Beware of free.

Buy-one-get-one-free deals don’t actually give you anything for free. It’s just half price.

Half price is nice, but it doesn’t sound as good as “free”, does it?

It’s a clever marketing trick to make you believe you are getting something for free, because no-one says no to “free”. “Half price” or “50% off” doesn’t sound as good.

And, if you only need to buy one of the items, buying two of them is not a great deal.

Make sure you are actually getting a good deal when something is advertised as “free”.
