Back to School: Shop On-line

in Money Saving Tips

In this fifth installment in our Back to School money saving tips series, after you start by Making a List, and then make an inventory of what you already have by shopping at home, and then make a budget, and then plan your shopping by not buying everything all at once, our tip today is to shop on-line for deals.

This can be done in two ways:

First, the internet is a great way to comparison shop, without ever leaving your home.  If you are purchasing a new computer, you can “visit” all of the computer stores in your area, and compare the prices for different configurations.  You don’t have to worry about sales pressure from a pushy sales person; you do you research on your own, at your own pace.

Second, there may be deals available on the internet that are not available in stores.  For example, many computer companies “build to suit” a computer specifically for you, based on your specifications.  Buying on-line might get you a better price, and it may also allow you to configure exactly what you want.
