As we continue our Back to School money saving tips, after you start by Making a List, the next step is to Shop at Home.

Your children will need pens, paper, backpacks, lunch bags, and new clothes. You probably already have some of those things already, at home. So, before you venture out to the store, take an inventory of everything you have at home, and cross the items you already have off of your list.

Your children may not want “hand me downs” from older siblings, but this is a great opportunity to explain to your children that we can’t buy everything you want, and this is a good time to keep our expenses under control.  By showing your children how to budget, you will teach them money management, and you will save money.

Tomorrow we will have more money saving tips for back to school.
