Welcome to Tips for Back to School Week here on the moneyproblems.ca Tip of The Day.  Our first tip, as we get ready for back to school: Make a List.

Make a list of everything your children will need for back to school.  They will need clothes, school supplies, and perhaps also other items for their after school activities (like sports, music lessons, and so on).

Get a sheet of paper for each category of purchase (school supplies, clothes, shoes, etc.), and then make a list of each item in each category.  Then beside each item on the list, write down the name of the store where you will go shopping.

Don’t forget to get your children involved; ask them what they need.  Of course they will also ask for a lot of items they don’t need, so it will be your job to create a realistic list.

A list is essential so that you buy what you need, but don’t buy more than you need.  Check back tomorrow for the number one tip on how to save on your back to school expenses.
