Shop at the Farmer’s Market

As the summer draws to a close, we enter the prime harvest season in Canada.  To save money and to eat great fresh food, shop at your local Farmer’s Market or roadside vegetable stands.

The food you get in a big grocery store may have been grown hundreds of miles away.  It may have spent a day or two in a truck, and day or two in a warehouse, and then a few more days on the shelf before you bought it.  Contrast that with the food from the local grower that was probably picked yesterday or today.  You are eating fresh, which is obviously more healthy.

Even better, the local grower didn’t have to pay for shipping or storage, so the food is cheaper.

Better quality and cheaper: that’s a winning formula.
